For many of us, watching movies and videos on YouTube is a favorite pastime. It hosts millions of videos in various categories such as songs, TV shows, documentaries, films, and so on, which you can watch on any device with an internet connection.
Search for a video, then filter the results to eliminate irrelevant links before watching. It functions similarly to a mobile movie theater. But did you know that YouTube records all of your activities?
It includes a list of videos watched, search history, comments left, and so on. Google remembers those things in order to recommend similar videos that you might be interested in, to serve localized ads, to send reminders about videos you have partially watched, and to do other things. As a result, you can find videos that match your previous browsing history quickly, saving you time.
Anyone who visits your YouTube account, on the other hand, will get a clear picture of your tastes and interests. They will discover what you are doing on the video hosting site and the types of videos you are watching.
Do you want it to occur?
Keep an eye on your YouTube history and delete it on a regular basis. We’ll show you how to delete YouTube history on both desktop and mobile today.
Delete YouTube History (Desktop)
Google makes it simple to manage activities and delete history from the YouTube home page. It is also possible to prevent YouTube from spying on your browsing activities, but this may have an impact on your personalized experiences across devices using the same Google account.
On a desktop computer, go to https://www.youtube.com and sign in with your account. In the top left corner of the screen, tap the three lines icon.
YouTube categorizes history into watch history, search history, comments, community, and live chat.
To delete your history, hover your mouse over a video link or search term. To delete them all at once, click the Clear all watch history link. A prompt will appear over the main screen asking you to confirm your request. To confirm, select the Clear watch history button once more.
Done.
The history page will display an empty list. Repeat this procedure for the search history as well. To stop recording your future YouTube activities, click the Pause watch history link.
How to Automatically Delete YouTube History?
To schedule the deletion of your YouTube history, click the ‘Set up automatic deletions’ button.
YouTube allows you to delete history in three ways: manually, once every three months, and once every 18 months. Choose an option and press the Next button.
Confirm your settings change and click OK to save. You won’t have to worry about YouTube history again because it will be deleted automatically according to the schedule you set.
Delete YouTube history (iOS & Android)
On YouTube, iPhone and Android smartphones have similar settings. Deletion will clear your entire YouTube watch or search history across all devices associated with the same account.
First, open YouTube on your mobile device. Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen to open the settings menu.
From the Settings panel, select ‘History and Privacy.’
To delete your relevant account activities, select Clear history. A pop-up box will appear; click the Clear history option once more to confirm.
To delete both your watch and search history, follow the same steps. To prevent YouTube from recording your future activities, drag the toggle button to the right.
