In this article, I will be showing the photos Akwa-Ibom female traditional attire. But before then, I will be sharing with you a belief history about Awka-Ibom’s culture.
Awka-Ibom is a uni-cultural state where ethics, mores, taboos, customs, and traditions are the same all through the state.
The cultural similarities tend to bind the people together especially in such areas as menus, dressing, dances, songs, rituals, folklores, beliefs, and myths.
The land of Promise (Akwa Ibom State) is one of the 36 states in Nigeria.
It is a home for Annang, Eket, Ibibio, Oron, Obolo, and even some Efik people. They all seem to have very similar traditions when it comes to traditional wear.
Women’s traditional attire of Akwa Ibom State maidens looks incredibly gorgeous and unlike anything you have ever seen before.
This particular attire consists of a knee-length skirt wrapped around the waist, a short beaded blouse that only covers the top half of the torso, as well as fluffy accessories worn around the arms and legs called Ekpa Ku Kwa.
However, the dressing is incomplete without an impressive hairstyle, decorated with plenty of brass combs and hairpins.
Furthermore, women also carry golden staffs that are usually adorned with ruffled fabrics.
